Online video that is checked before it runs

Vectravia buys in-stream and out-stream video on the web and in apps, checks VAST creatives before launch and reports viewability against the MRC two-second rule.

What is online video advertising?

Online video advertising places video ads on websites and in apps, outside the TV screen. In-stream ads play before, during or after video content; out-stream ads play inside articles or feeds where there is no video player of their own.

Each request arrives with an OpenRTB Video object that says which player sizes, durations and protocols are accepted. The creative itself is delivered as a VAST document that the player reads.

How does Vectravia buy online video?

  1. Match the player

Player size, placement type, duration and protocols in the Video object are matched against your creatives.

  2. Check the creative

VAST tags are checked before launch, so a broken or mismatched creative never reaches the auction.

  3. Check the path

Path Check reads ads.txt or app-ads.txt and the SupplyChain object before each bid.

  4. Report viewability

Signal Reports counts viewable impressions against the MRC two-second video rule.

Which online video formats can you buy?

  • In-stream

    Pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll in a publisher video player.

  • Out-stream

Video that plays inside article or feed content without its own player.

  • In-app video

Video placements inside mobile apps, including rewarded video where offered.

What makes a video impression count?

Video viewability follows the MRC guideline, and pods are now part of the bid request.

How is online video measured?

A video impression counts as viewable under the MRC guideline when at least 50 percent of its pixels are in view for two continuous seconds. Signal Reports uses that rule and shows completion rates next to it.

Completion events come from the VAST tracking in each creative, so they are measured, not modeled.
